SMOOTHIES

While others may eat just fruits and vegetables as a snack or dessert others prefer smoothies.
A smoothie is a thick beverage made from a blended raw fruit and or vegetable with other ingredients such as water, ice, dairy products or sweeteners.
Being hypertensive or diabetic should not stop you from enjoying smoothies too. One out of many which you can enjoy is the Carrot and Orange Burst smoothie. This combination of carrot juice blended with oranges or any other citrus fruit will give you a huge burst of potassium, vitamin C and vitamin A. Just peel an orange or tangerine and blend with carrots for a super treat.
Potassium counteracts the effects of sodium on blood pressure thereby lowering it. It also decreases the risk of developing kidney stones and bone loss that occurs with age.
Enjoy smoothies as long as the ingredients are blood pressure lowering agents.
