BROCCOLI

Broccoli belongs to the cruciferous vegetable family which includes kale, cauliflower, brussels , sprouts and turnips.
This little tree, as many  will describe it are noted for being pushed off  plates by most kids, but broccoli has not lost its reputation for being one of the healthiest vegetable.
It contains vitamin C, which when eaten in its natural form can help fight skin damage caused by the sun and pollution, reduce wrinkles and improve overall skin texture.
You will surely automatically think of citrus fruits when you think of vitamin C but did you know that broccoli provides 81 miligrams in just one serving? That is more than what you need in an entire day.
With the natural fibre that it contains, broccoli prevents constipation , maintains a healthy digestive tract and lower the risk of a colon cancer.
It also provides a lower risk of developing stroke, hypertension, diabetes, obesity and other gastrointestinal diseases by lowering high blood pressure and cholesterol, improving insulin sensitivity and enhancing weight loss for obese individuals. It very effective to provide low cholesterol if you will cook it by steaming. Raw ones also have this potential but are just not as much as it is steamed.
Broccoli also have a strong positive impact on our body's detoxification system.
You will want to include broccoli as one of the cruciferous vegetable you eat on a daily basis if you want health benefits. At a minimum, include a broccoli in your diet 2 -3 times per week and make a serving size at least half to one plate.
